Opposites

Yesterday was a very productive day for me. I cleaned the apartment: vacuumed; swept; loaded and unloaded the dishwasher; made the bed; scrubbed the sink, toilet, and tub; worked out; went shopping and bought a coffee table, end table, and candles. After Josh got home I made dinner and loaded the dishwasher again. At the end of the day I was tired but happy with myself.

However, today hasn't gone as well. I did some things around the house and headed to get my name changed. I had my first experience with a parking meter. The whole time I was gone I worried about it expiring. It did, but I didn't get a ticket or anything. I walked around the whole, large, building one and a half times to find the entrance door. I waited in line for about 20 minutes to find out the paper I had wouldn't work. I ran to my car and moved it to another meter with a longer time limit. Then I went back to the courthouse to the probate's office where she told me I have to go to Decatur. I guess I will go to Decatur tomorrow and maybe meet Josh for lunch.

Josh seems to be enjoying work. He is still learning though so it can be a little stressful. We are supposed to be having a date night tonight, but I'm not sure if that's going to be a at-home date or out-on-the-town date.

Sunday Josh I and went to a 9 o'clock service at First Baptist Madison. Then changed clothes and headed to Altoona to eat lunch with his family. After we ate, I headed to Centre to see my family and pick up some more of my stuff. Josh had to pick up his truck from his parents' and swap keys with Mrs. Jensen in Glencoe, so we had to go separately for a while.

After spending several hours on the road we met at home and grabbed some supper. We managed to figure out where Madison was shooting fireworks. We got to the area about the time they started shooting. It took quite a while to find a place to park, but I think it was worth it. Josh took a couple videos of it on his phone.

Today we hung around the house. I did some house cleaning (Josh helped a little). We played video games and just took it easy. He has to go back to work tomorrow, and I'll be home alone :( I think I have lots to do to keep busy, though. Still some cleaning to do, need to change my name legally, some shopping to do, and letters to mail. I also have the pool and weight room if I find the time for them.

Grilling

Josh and I went to purchase a new camcorder today because we weren't happy with the one we bought a couple weeks ago. We wanted to have one for the fourth, but they were sold out of the one we wanted. We checked a couple other places with no luck. It looks like we will have to wait until Tuesday or so to get it.

Josh and I also tried grilling out for the first time. It was a partial success. We grilled corn, eggplant, chicken, and veggie burgers. The corn and eggplant turned out pretty well. The chicken was a bit pink even though the thermometer said it was done. The veggie burgers were crumbly and fell through the grill. However, before Josh put the last patty on the grill, I took it inside and put it in a skillet to cook. Thankfully, it worked out well.

After dinner we played some video games for a while. We also roasted marshmellows which turned out wonderfully (it's hard to mess that up).

Home

Today is our first full day home together. We are settling in nicely. We have several things planned today: oil change for my car, Best Buy trip to swap camcorders, and lots of straightening up around the house. Maybe later we will get some pictures up from the honeymoon. I would also like to get some pictures up of our apartment, but I want to do some more decorating first.

We really enjoyed our trip to Gatlinburg. The condo was beautiful. We played putt putt several times, window shopped, visited the art community, and went on a hike to Laurel Falls. Josh struck up a conversation with the owner of a coffee shop and discovered he used to play professional baseball but now owns and runs his coffee shop. We spent a long while talking to him about why he chose to do that and about Gatlinburg changing so much. One night at dinner we were enjoying the restaurant and its atmosphere when music started up. That was fine until the singer started. We learned from the waiter that the owner hired a kareoke DJ and everyone regretted it. Needless to say he wasn't what they expected at all. While we were in the art community we met a lady at a stainglass shop. We talked to her while we took pictures around the shop. We learned that she and her husband used to vacation in Galtinburg, and when their son went to college they decided to move there.

We look forward to going back to Gatlinburg but are very happy to be home for now :)
